Apply for Reimbursement Through the Client Money Protection Scheme

Client Money Protection (CMP) is compulsory for our members so if a Propertymark Protected agent has misappropriated your rent, deposit or other client money you can apply for reimbursement through the CMP scheme.

DETAILS OF THE SCHEME

We can only reimburse applicants up to £25,000 and we can't award landlords more than three months’ rent. An applicant can be an individual such as a landlord or tenant who has a business relationship with the Propertymark Protected member but can also be a limited company, partnership or management association. Please note that these limits apply whether an applicant has one property or five.

The Propertymark CMP scheme has a total annual limit of £5,000,000, running from 1 January to 31 December. In addition to the overall limit, there is a £500,000 limit per Propertymark Protected company. Payments are made on a pro-rata basis in situations where either limit is exceeded.

How to make an application

To make an application please complete the CMP application form. Applications must be submitted within 12 months of our notification that a misappropriation has occurred. We will endeavour to complete applications as quickly as possible but it is not always within our control. Prompt responses from applicants, together with all supporting documentation will assist the process.
